The Dr. CL Smith Foundation aims to create and drive positive social change in previously disadvantaged and excluded areas in South Africa through Education. We believe that education drives the objectives as outlined in the National Development Plan 2030 and are vital to the holistic development of young people, fostering their mental, physical, social and emotional health.

In order for us to eradicate poverty and remove the barriers of inequality as well as remain relevant in a global economy; our education system must be capable of capturing and developing talent at an equivalent pace to developed nations. This goal cannot be achieved via the current education system business model and without the effective use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) inside and outside the classroom. We recognize the need to provide better access to quality education for all through various tool-sets and partnerships with key stakeholders within the education sector that will enhance communication, sharing and collaboration among the various organizational groups within the schooling environment. Our mission is to create learning environments where educators can engage, motivate and inspire learners; where principals have a access to a community that promotes effective leadership and management in schools. The ultimate goal would be to improve learner performance and pass rates at all levels of basic education, thus increasing the numbers of high-caliber university graduates and ultimately the development of professionals that are able to participate in growing our economy.
