Inspired by the great Anti-Aparthied Leader Joe Slovo’s legacy, the focus of the Joe Slovo Foundation is on the entitlment of human Rights especially Women’s Rights as per Slovo’s good friend the late President nelson Mandela andon building Resilinat Communities utilising a ‘Sustainable Livelihoods Approach’. Our campaigns and programmes are sustained – The Joe Slovo Foundation is the power behind the White Ribbon Campaign in South Africa, teaching all South Africans (not only men and boys) to end violence against women and girls through primary prevention programmes. The Joe Slovo Foundation formed part of the UN-OCHA World Humanitarian Summit Consultation Process and is actively engaged in supporting both the Outcomes of the Summit and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in Africa.

Powered by the Joe Slovo Foundation White Ribbon South Africa is working towards Ending Violence and Abuse against Women and Girls. Whiteribbon.org.za as it is also known is part of the White Ribbon Campaign, the world’s largest movement of men, women and boys working to end violence and abuse against women and girls, to promote gender equity, healthier relationships and an improved vision of what masculinity is. Since its inception in the 1990’s, The White Ribbon Campaign has spread to over 60 countries around the world.

Through education, awareness-raising, outreach, technical assistance, capacity building, and partnerships, powered by the Joe Slovo Foundation; White Ribbon South Africa’s programmes challenge the negative, outdated concepts of manhood and inspire South African men to understand and embrace the incredible potential they have to be a part of positive change. Eliminating Gender Based Violence & Sexual Harassment from the Home, School, Workplace and Community.

Working in partnerships White Ribbon now has almost 100 Advocates thoughout all nine provinces in South Africa providing Education Programmes in Schools, Universities and Workplaces teaching Primary Prevention Programmes to end Violence Against Women and Children.
