Masiphumelele, a community of over 40,000 people, faces high unemployment, limited education, and poor access to essential services—challenges that contribute to a persistent cycle of poverty. Masicorp works to break this cycle by supporting over 4,000 residents each year through education and skills development. Early Childhood Development (ECD): Masicorp’s ECD model offers high-quality early learning, teacher training, and mentorship, alongside daily meals to support nutrition and school attendance. Primary Education Support: We assist local schools with resources and programmes that improve literacy and numeracy. Our initiatives—after-school clubs, lending libraries, and educational support—helped raise literacy levels by 18% and Maths scores by 15% above similar schools. Youth & Adult Skills Development: We offer computer literacy for all ages and vocational sewing training for unemployed women. Two busy centres provide free, accredited digital skills training. Community Support: Our Dignity Programme provides free menstrual products so girls don’t miss school. We also subsidise 500 school uniforms annually—made by local women trained through our sewing programmes. In emergencies like floods or fires, we deliver school supplies and essential aid. Masicorp’s holistic approach empowers individuals and builds resilience in Masiphumelele.
