The Reach Trust is a South African non-profit and public benefit organisation established in 2012. Our team develops accessible, scalable mobile and print-based learning solutions for children, youth, and caregivers in underserved communities. To date, we have helped more than 10 million people gain access to educational tools and programmes via their mobile phones. Using everyday tech like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and zero-rated apps, we empower people with the tools to learn, grow, and thrive — no matter their circumstances. Our programmes are evidence-based, user-friendly, and designed for real-world applications. From First 1000 Days, to Early Childhood Development, to vocational development for NEET youth – we support all life stages with a portfolio of cradle to career solutions. Our Flagship program is our ECD solution Finding Thabo Finding Thabo is a play- and picture-based ECD school-readiness programme aimed at Grade RR children (ages 4-5). The curriculum covers one full year of enriched ECD content and is aligned to the National Curriculum Framework ELDAs. Inspired by the format of Where’s Wally?, it uses ten richly illustrated posters of familiar Southern African scenes - markets, schools, taxi ranks, and homes. Children and facilitators search for hidden characters and objects, guided by structured prompts that encourage counting, comparing, describing, and problem-solving. Each poster is supported by lesson plans and playful activities that reinforce number sense, vocabulary, colours, and shapes. • Our investment model is R1000 per ECD teacher - providing training and printed resources that can last up to five years, as well as a digital Teachers' Assessment app and a WhatsApp support bot. • Our program has a 97% pedagogy score from Education Alliance Finland (EOF), and we've trained 10,000 ECD teachers across all 9 Provinces. • Finding Thabo was designed by learning experts - a psychologist, speech and language therapists, and OTs. • The program focuses on literacy (language), numeracy (early maths), and building executive functions. • We offer teachers ongoing mentorship via our digital channels and learning communities.
