The YeBo Institute was formally established in 2023 as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and serves as the administrative and strategic home for the national youth service programme, YearBeyond, and its training arm (the YeBo Academy). YearBeyond utilises a dual-beneficiary model, providing structured work experience and personal development for youth, while simultaneously delivering high-quality community interventions. The programmes tackle challenges that communities face in education or social cohesion.

YearBeyond’s education programmes provide learners in low- and no-fee public schools with literacy, numeracy, life skills, and psychosocial support, and literacy and physical development support for pre-school children and their caregivers. The programme offerings are as follows: Literacy and Numeracy Catch-Up Programme, WCED @HomeLearning Programme, Scouting in Schools Programme, Little Explorers ECD Programme, and the Shukuma Programme.

YearBeyond’s social cohesion programmes build bridges between community spaces that provide public services and the communities they serve. This includes broadening access to facilities and services, building a culture of reading, and raising public awareness around key issues. The programme offerings are as follows: Libraries Programme, Placemakers Programme, Playmakers Programme, Healthy Pathfinders Programme, and the Khulisa Care Programme.
