Sibongile Khumalo is Executive Director of The Learning Trust, a grant-making and capacity
support organisation for South Africa’s emerging after school programmes. She has over 14 years’ experience in Education, particularly in providing access and support through scholarships, youth leadership development and extended learning initiatives. Sibongile has a Master of
Science degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, extensive experience in all non-profit operations and a passion for identifying and nurturing human potential. At The Learning Trust, she is responsible for formulating and implementing the organisation’s strategy as well as strengthening the national After School sector through research, professional development activities and strategic partnerships. In 2013, Sibongile was named one of Mail &Guardian’s “200 Young South Africans” in the Education category; and in 2016 she was awarded the YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship and graduated as an International Associate of Wagner College, NYC. She is now a member of Class XII of the Africa Leadership Initiative in South Africa (ALI-SA) as part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). She currently serves on the boards of NASCEE (National Association of Social Change Entities in Education); IPASA (Independent Philanthropy Association of South Africa); and the Nedbank Private Wealth Foundations.
